If the "Open File" dialog is bigger than the "Open with SFTP" dialog and you have
activated "Select windows when the mouse moves over them" in gnome-window-properties,
this causes the "SFTP" dialog to get covered / hidden below the "Open File" dialog.
The "Open File" dialog loses focus and cannot get moved using the title bar.
This makes jEdit appear to have locked up.
WORKAROUNDS (for this):
1. Move away the "Open File" dialog by pressing Alt and clicking anywhere in the window
(you cannot move it away using the title bar) ("Alt" is probably the default in gnome-window-propertiees
- otherwise try the Super/Win key)
2. Deactivate "Select windows when the mouse moves over them"
3. Resize the "Open File" dialog, before opening the (S)FTP dialog
4. Do not use Gnome / metacity ;)
I don't know if jEdit can force the SFTP dialog to get opened in front - but this
should get done, if possible - although the bug is really with metacity probably.

Is it possible to reproduce this in KDE or any other window manager? |
