(49/211) 3367 - Maximised window is out of place after starting Jedit

Using Jedit 4.3 sever mode on Ubuntu 9.10 together with the following (default) Java install:
java version "1.6.0_0"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.6.1) (6b16-1.6.1-3ubuntu1)
OpenJDK Client VM (build 14.0-b16, mixed mode, sharing)
I have the following issue:

When opening Jedit the formerly maximised window is not at the correct place. Instead it seems that the window is displaced and drawn at a position that is too low. (See attached screenshot)
When this happens, the window is drawn above the Gnome-panel at the bottom of the screen - clicking at the place where the Gnome panel is makes is visible again. (again see attached screenshot)
Moreover, it is not possible to use the window handels (in the brown top border of the Jedit window) at all. The only way I found to bring Jedit back to its normal place (i.e. maximised window between the top and the bottom panel) is to right-click on program field in the Gnome panel and to choose minimise and then maximise.

Even though Jedit is misplaced it is possible to use Jedit for editing: Placing the cursor at a certain place, typing, using the menus and the icons etc.

This happens unpredictably in around 50% of times, when I open Jedit.
