The documentation for jEdit states that, "The current version of jEdit requires a
Java runtime environment having a release version of 1.8 or greater." Therefore,
not working with Java 9 is a bug.
Technically, this is a minor bug. However, in its impact to the users, it could become
severe as more and more users adopt Java 9 and look to take advantage of its new features.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Run jedit.exe.
2. An error message is displayed, "This application requires a Java Runtime Environment
1.8.0."
3. The user is redirected to the Java website.
Thank you.
